Elaine Free, Ed.D.
Education Foundation Consultant
Dr. Elaine Free funnels
her passion for improving education into school foundations across the
nation. A sought-after speaker with appearances at state and national
education foundation conferences, Dr. Free draws from a 31-year career
in public education as a vocational homemaking teacher, vocational
homemaking supervisor, and director of vocational education. She
brought that insider knowledge to her role as public information
director for the Irving Independent School District and to founding and
managing the Irving Schools Foundation. After more than 10 years in
those latter roles, she began helping other school districts and
foundations.
In more than a decade consulting with school
districts and foundations, Dr. Free continues to guide districts as
they create foundations and counsels foundation boards through policy
and procedure construction. She also facilitates their energies into
five-year plans. In every instance she creates customized strategies
and tactics proven to generate continual improvement in education.
Realizing that few resources existed to aid
Texas foundations in progressing, Dr. Free worked with a core group to
establish the Annual Statewide Education Foundation conference in
Texas. This outlet gives educators, executive directors and board
members comprehensive workshops in the many facets of developing,
enhancing and sustaining successful foundations.
Her commitment is clear: To work with local
foundations to realize tangible ways to substantially impact their
students' education.
Dr. Free says, "It
is my philosophy that education foundations for public schools can be
endowed in the same manner as higher education. And, my goal as a
consultant is to help districts, communities and existing foundations
to develop a plan for achieving that goal. There is no greater joy
than helping others experience the benefits of a successful education
foundation."
